Piercing Pink October is a campaign dedicated to breast health. This month we remind ourselves and our loved ones of the importance of regular check‑ups. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women – in the United States it accounts for about 30% of all new female cancerscancer.org. Therefore, it is crucial not to neglect our health and to detect any potential changes at an early stage.

Why Should You Screen Your Breasts?

Early detection of breast cancer increases the chances of effective treatment. Regular ultrasound screenings or mammograms allow you to notice abnormalities before they become serious problems. In addition, regular self‑examination of your breasts helps you get to know your body. Consequently, you will notice potential changes sooner and consult them with a doctor.

Breast Health and Nipple Piercing

As a piercer I emphasize that healthy breasts are essential before getting your nipples pierced. Although a nipple piercing looks impressive, it is an intervention in a delicate part of the body. For this reason, it is worth making sure there are no medical issues. Before the procedure, ask your doctor for a breast exam. This preventive step gives peace of mind both to you and your piercer.
